An Unusual Experience
Two weeks ago, our music teacher asked me to go to her office as soon as possible. I wondered why she asked to meet me? Had I done something wrong? Surprisingly, it was my voice that she needed. I was requested to dub a six-minute video clip, which would be released on April 26th for LSSH Open Day. Frankly speaking, I wasn’t confident in my voice. I mean I didn’t think I do have a good vocal sound. However, it was the imperfection of my voice that gave me the opportunity of participating in the video making process.
My peer, Julie, showed me the script, letting me read my lines at first. The story was cool:
A LiShan freshman girl felt confused about the live in LiShan, not knowing what her studying direction was. One day when she studied in the library, accidentally, she found a diary by the senior, in which he had written down the every special observation and wonderful experience during his school life. At the end of the diary, how near the touching relationship was between the senior and his teachers let the freshman realize that, in the learning way in LiShan, it must be memorable and a lot of fun.
My part was the senior, the owner or the diary. I went all out to simulate the emotion the senior might have when he noted down the snatches of life. It’s a feeling mixed with curiosity, gratitude and the delight of self-growth. Julie was nice but a bit strict; she asked me to record every single word exactly that met her expectation. After finishing the recording, I helped them type the subtitles. The job was quite interesting for me, actually, but yet it was very time-consuming, not to mention other work like shooting, editing and organizing! Sometimes the computer lagged or even crushed at the moment you just finished the section. After two weeks of struggle, eventually and thankfully, the entire video was completed in time, on the morning of Saturday.
Although I joined the group only for two days, I could totally feel and understand how much preparation they had done, how hardworking they had been, how fatigue they had felt, and how much they had devoted. On the last day, our school principal along with his secretary and Director of Academic Affairs came to cheer us. Thanks to them, we were more confident that we could do it! The music teacher and two of my peers even stayed at school through the whole night just to achieve their common goal – to produce the video down to the last detail! I have learned so many things from this unique experience and realized that, those who can be considered dedicative are really doing something!
It was the students’ perseverance and cohesion that moved the teacher.
It was the teacher’s support and the encouragement that inspired the students.
And it was the belief in one another that bond them together and create the one-of-a-kind video!
my-mom-made cuisine I – Steamed Pork Pastry
This is my first time to introduce my-mom-made cuisine. As for the beginning, I want to present my mom’s forte – Steamed Pork Pastry.
The ingredients are easy to get, inclusive of -
Main Ingredient:
200 g of pork
1/5 of a dried squid
Corning Ingredient:
1/2 spoon of soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of potato starch
1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil
salt and water
Utensil:
spoon
pot
bowl
shelf
serving plate
To start the Steamed Pork Pastry:
1. put the dried squid into water added with a bit of salt, soak it for about 30~60 min
2. cut the soaked squid into small slices
3. add the cut squid and the whole corning ingredient to the pork, mix them together in the serving plate

4. add water to a pan and heat it with high fire; when it is boiling, put a shelf into it, on which you later put the plate
5. steam it for 10 min
6. take the plate out, and – enjoy hot!
When my mom, as well as her sisters and brother, was little, my grandfather often made tasty Cantonese dishes for them. Due to the fact that my grandpa was “working” on the sea, he taught my mom how to add flavor to dishes with seafoods.
I can remember that, when I was still very young, my mom started to make this cuisine for me. With a 4-inch size of steamed pork pastry, I can have at least 4 bowls of rice – you can see how appetizing it is! Nowadays, my mom often changes the ingredient in order to make various flavors. Still, the basic elements can’t be missed.
But pay attention to the cooking time – once you steam it too long, the meat will become too ripe as well – in Chinese we say the meat is “old!” Besides, to enjoy the juicy texture, you gotta dig in at the very first moment!
Give it a try J

reflection on the project “What did you eat”
If it hadn’t been the project “What did you eat,” I wouldn’t have noticed what really entered my stomach every day.
During the naming and the calculation of nutrition facts, I eventually realized the things I could make progress on. I didn’t have enough vegetables while I always had meat as my main course – I just love big piece of beef of lamb! But now, things are changing. I pick vegetables into my bowl as the first course, usually a whole bowl; then I start my dear meat.
Striking a balance on nutrition is of importance, for sure! I don’t consider myself a nutritious eater; however, I am on my way of eating nutritiously. By doing so, I believe I can have a better eating style!
Sense of Music
Hi,
I just made a survey titled “Sence of Music“. Just have fun when you answer the questions, which are easy, I think. Through that I believe you can gain some new knowledge of music. And don’t forget, if you want to know more about music, just visit the other blog of mine, musiclassique. Thank you.

promotion for my project
I have two ways in my mind of promoting my project – newspaper or video.
First, I would like to promote my project by designing a newspaper so that others can read about the pieces if interested. In the newspaper, the same as the one I made with Ming-lung this January, I will probably put some useful, interesting or humorous information. I don’t want my newspaper to be too complicated but in a simple way – I prefer simple things! However, I don’t want readers to find it quite dreary. I’ll think more about how to work on it and ask others for comments if necessary.
In the other way, perhaps I will make a short clip to promote it. The skill was introduced by me English teacher, who took this for example:I absolutely appreciate this kind of promotion, new, creative, simple and clear. I’m thinking if i can do as well as the producer.
make it turn!
I just downloaded a new episode of one game called “Turn.” There are four stories in each episode, and every story has a client coming to your office asking for help. You are a defense counsel in the game; all you have to do is find out enough evidence to save your client – the culprit.
You will be a detective while looking for the evidence, and a lawyer when being in the court – do NOT lose anything you think doubtful or queer. You must trust your client that he or she is definitely innocent. Also, in this game you have to considerate all the words from the others. Some of them may lie to you while the others are telling you the truth even giving you several useful clues. Questioning the witnesses, these will be your best weapons.
The tip of questioning the witnesses is to interrogate them sternly so they may carelessly make a slip of the tongue, first. Second, compare what the witness said with your evidence. If he or she is lying, there will immediately be antilogy – it is the best time to demand them more. The more you ask the more information you will get.
Unfortunately, just at that time, the tricky evil procurator will stop you and defend the witness. It’s the time to test your wisdom, so never give up here. After a few hard questions, finally, the real murderer will give himself or herself up; at the same time, the culprit will be free to go. You succeed!
It usually takes more than three hours to solve a criminal case. Yet, I love this game very much ‘cause I am just like Conan during the game. As you almost clear it up, the murderer will be extremely anxious, and it is the happiest time to observe his or her air of twitchiness. It’s absolutely satisfying and joyful.
to play the flute well
I have been playing the flute for 5 years. I always remember the very first tune I played – so touching. Now, my teacher is building up my confidence, which made me get the first place in a flute contest. At the coming X’mas holiday, my friend and I will have a performance of Bolling’s jazz work.
Well, I’ll just go step by step. Hopefully, someday, I can play the flute really well, which will absolutely fulfill my dream…
CNN for student
My English teacher recommand me listen to (watch) the CNN news for student online. Surprisingly, I can understand most of the information…so happy! Well, it makes me more interested in listening to English.
What’s more! I found a show, should be hosted by . He’s so funny… such a genius of humor. You will know the reason after seeing these two clips: and .
Enjoy!!
